Tips For Maintaining Your Hot Tub

If you are a new hot tub owner, you will want to make sure that you are doing all that you can in order to maintain it the best you can. To help with this, you will want to make use of the following tips.

Keep The Water Circulating

If you or your family are jumping in the hot tub every day, this is not something that requires extra thought on your part, because the hot tub will be turned on and the water will be circulated through the filters. However, if you are not in it as often as you would like, you will want to make it a point to turn it on for a little while at least once a day, even if no one will be in it. This is to make sure that you are able to keep the water as clean as possible.

Drain And Clean

You will want to completely drain and clean your hot tub every couple of months. Make sure that you are using a mild soap and water scum cleaning solution, which can usually be found online and at your local stores that carry hot tubs and their parts. It is also extremely important to thoroughly rinse all of the cleaning solution out of the hot tub. Do not assume that you can lightly rinse it and have the filter take care of cleaning everything up once you fill it back up with water.

Pay Attention To The Cover

It is best to keep the hot tub covered when it is not in use, in order to keep debris from falling into it. The thing is, you need to not only clean the hot tub itself, but the cover, as well. While the top of the cover may just need a quick rinse, you will want to pay closer attention to the underside of the lid because there is a good chance that mildew and mold can grow under there.

Learn The Chemistry Of The Water

It is vital that the water is tested for its pH and alkaline levels every few days. You will add the proper solutions to the water as needed, just like you would do with a swimming pool. In fact, the products are the same, so if you already have a swimming pool, you can use the same products between the two. Also make sure that you are adding a sanitizer, such as chlorine.

With all of that in mind, you should find that you are going to have a much easier time maintaining your new hot tub.

About Me

Renovating Our Pool After years of living with a pool that looked less-than-perfect, we started going through and thinking about things we needed to do to improve our space. We decided that a new liner would be ideal for making the space a little more functional, so we started focusing on different ways to make things right. We talked with a few different pool contractors about making the changes we needed, and before we knew it, things were coming together. I wanted to start a website all about renovating our pool and making the changes you need to improve the entire space every day.
